Gunnel Clark |
 Gunnel Clark grew up in Sweden and took a fil. mag. degree in French and English at Uppsala University. She then gained a Ph.D. in Linguistics at Cambridge University, where she also taught Swedish. During this time she was taking on an increasing amount of translation work.Gunnel has been a full-time freelance translator since 1987. She is a Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) and a Member of the Swedish Association of Professional Translators (SFÖ).Gunnel translates into Swedish, mainly from English.
Although she works mainly from English, she is prepared to consider assignments from French, German, Danish and Norwegian in certain subject areas.She translates handbooks for a variety of products, software texts, journals, research reports, tourist brochures, promotional material, film and video scripts and so on. Other important translation areas include documents for the European Commission and international organisations.To keep abreast of developments in Sweden, Gunnel regularly reads Swedish newspapers and is in constant touch with clients and family members in Sweden. She also visits Sweden at least once a year.Gunnel does not undertake translation of legal, financial or insurance texts.
