 Robert Clark has been a technical translator all his working life, the first ten years on the staff of engineering companies in Switzerland, Sweden and Holland. In 1972, after two years with a UK translation agency, Robert became a full-time freelance translator. He is a Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) and of the Swedish Association of Professional Translators (SFÖ).Robert translates into English from:
Swedish • German • Dutch • Danish • NorwegianHis preferred subject areas embrace most of modern technology; technical manuals for computer hardware and software and for vehicles and machines are typical of his work, but his range extends to tender specifications, national and international standards, articles from technical journals, patents (though he makes no claim to be a patent expert) and technology-related training course material.Robert's ten years of staff translator experience was gained with major electrical engineering companies, so he is familiar with products from semiconductors to industrial control systems. Over the years he has accumulated extensive knowledge of engineering, telecommunications and information technology through his work as a translator.He does not translate texts of a purely commercial, legal, medical, scientific or financial nature.
